BioMy name is Lee and I'm a recent graduate from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Right now I'm living in the Washington DC area working full time for an IT consulting company. My Thoughts About LJ-Cut Tags:
I can understand cutting memes, quizzes, and large images (I will lj-cut anything larger than 30 KB). What I don't understand is people who insert cuts of text that amounts to a sentence or two, or ideas they think people won't be interested in reading. It annoys me when people place short, but interesting content behind a cut and I have to click through to read it. The whole point of having friends pages is that it is one-stop shopping for reading about what is going on with other people. The purpose of the lj-cut tag is to hide content that your friends may want to read, but not wait to load. Get some confidence about your posts and leave all the text out there to read!
If you feel that you must use lj-cut obsessively, at least try to be descriptive about your cuts so I know what I'm clicking through for. For example, maybe I want to see your ( Birthday Party Pics ) but not your ( Lame, Uncredited Song Lyrics ).
Note about Friends:
I try very hard not to make public posts that portray anyone in a bad way. I also hate the fact that so many journals out there are "friends only." So I'm trying to find a happy middle where I don't piss people off (or embarass myself!) but I don't turn them away because they see only one post that says "Friends Only."
So if you want to read more content, add me to your friends list and you will be added back! And please if you feel like unfriending me for whatever reason, just drop me a quick note telling me why... you at least owe me that much!
